Coillabus is a small scattered settlement on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . It is located about 4.5 kilometers west of the Port Ellen ferry terminal and 16 km south of the island's capital Bowmore in the east of the Oa Peninsula . The closest settlements are Cragabus, about a kilometer to the northeast, and Kinnabus, located 2.5 km to the southwest . The village was historically divided into Coillabus and Upper and Lower Coillabus .
Coillabus today only consists of a few inhabited houses. In 1861 there were still 41 people in Coillabus, who were divided into seven families. There is historical evidence that Coillabus was once the site of a major battle. In addition to a bronze sword, other finds were described there that indicate it.
