Colin Richard Moss (born February 9, 1976 in Johannesburg ) is a South African actor , film and television producer and television presenter .

Life

Moss studied drama, music and art history at the University of KwaZulu-Natal from 1994 to 1996 ; there he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts . He has been working as a freelance actor since 1994. During his studies he already appeared as a stand-up comedian for the improvisational theater group Comedy Games, which is known in South Africa . In the late 1990s he performed regularly as a comedian in South Africa and at various comedy festivals with his own stage programs until 2003. a. also in Great Britain and Ireland . In the further course of his career, Moss was repeatedly active as a comedian. Since 2003 head of the comedy troupe Comedy All Stars Cape Town in Cape Town . In 2010 he performed his own comedy program at the Stand Up Comedy Club in New York City .

After a few years as a stage actor, he took on his first television role in 1998, the role of Stuart Buller in the popular daily soap Isidingo . In this role he was seen in the series from 1999 to 2001. Moss then went to Cape Town, where he worked as a television presenter for various television shows, including a. 2001 at the TV show City Life (for the South African TV channel e.tv ). In the South African horror film Cryptid (2006) Mioss took on the role of Dan Huevelman; he played the captain of the local Area Defense Force who wants to solve the gruesome murders of South African farmers. In the South African comedy film Big Fellas (2007) he played one of the two leading roles; He played the young Jake Holmes, who wants to make a documentary with his partner about the real life of international top models. In the British-South African film drama The Hidden World (2007) he played the role of Officer De Witt, a white psychopathic police officer from the apartheid era . He had a supporting role (as John) in the Italian-French comedy film Ex (2008). In March 2014 Moss was seen in the ZDF television film Elly Beinhorn - Solo Flight alongside Vicky Krieps ; he embodied the American aviation pioneer Moye Stephens .

Occasionally Moss was also active as a classical theater actor, u. a. as Rodrigo in Othello (2002, for The Little Theater Production). In January / February 2005 he appeared in the Theater on the Bay in Cape Town in the play My Zinc Bed by Sir David Hare in a production of the Peter Toerien Production Company; he played one of the main roles, the young poet Paul Peplow.

In 2009 he founded his own production company, Gathered Moss Productions , together with his then partner Tamarin Kaplan , with which he is particularly active with reality TV formats, documentaries and advertising . Together they produced the reality format Way of the Warrior , a show about sixteen overweight couch potatoes who are learning the martial art of Muay Thai and are given the chance to become fighters in their lives. The series ran on MNet's Action Channel from February to May 2010, was broadcast on prime time in South Africa and was one of the finalists of the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) 2011.

In March 2014, Moss married his longtime partner Tamarin Kaplan on the Rustenburg Wine Estate in Stellenbosch . Moss lives in Cape Town.
