Colin Pattenden

Colin Roy Pattenden (born November 1947 in Farnborough , London , England ) is a guitarist , bassist and sound engineer .

Musical biography

Originally trained on the guitar, Pattenden taught himself how to use the electric bass . After engagements as a touring musician for Engelbert Humperdinck and Leapy Lee , he played with Chris Slade and became known through this with Manfred Mann . Pattenden became a founding member of Manfred Mann's Earth Band , of which he was a member from 1971 to spring 1977. His agile, sometimes rooting bass can be heard on the albums Manfred Mann's Earth Band (1971) to The Roaring Silence (1976) .

In 1978 he founded the band "Terra Nova" with the former drummer of the Earth Band, Chris Slade , and the later singer of the Earth Band, Peter Cox , which only existed for a short time.

In 1992 Pattenden was named as managing director of an "Earthband Limited", along with MMEB musicians Chris Slade , Chris Hamlet Thompson and Dave Flett .

After engagements in various formations (including Mungo Jerry and The Nashville Teens ), he founded his own company in Chertsey, Surrey, called CP Sound Limited (sound studio and event technology), which he runs together with his son Jamie Pattenden (sound engineer).
