The highly regarded educational institution was founded in 1460 and was based in the Rue Valette on Montagne Sainte-Geneviève in the 5th arrondissement in Paris . Notable former scholars were Jules Michelet , Serge July and Philippe Léotard . The building has been a French cultural monument since 1999 .
