Colquhalzie House

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Colquhalzie House is a mansion near the Scottish village of Muthill in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A. The associated stables are also classified as a category B structure, the Duke's Tower as a category C structure.

history

The mansion was probably built in 1729 or a few years later. In 1826 the west wing was added. It would take another 100 years until the east wing was built in 1929. Since this corresponds to the mirrored west wing, a symmetrical building structure was created. John Stewart , who carried out the work, also redesigned the ground floor and the entrance area. The interior has been redesigned several times over the centuries. So too through Stewart. In 1967 the rooms were returned to their presumed original condition. T. Beveridge carried out the work.
