Columbine is a census-designated place in the US state of Colorado , which is partly in Arapahoe County , but mostly in Jefferson County .
In 2010, Columbine had 24,280 residents. The Columbine High School , which on 20 April 1999 the scene of the Columbine High School massacre became known shooting was located within the boundaries of CDPs Columbine.

At the time of the 2000 United States Census, Columbine had 24,095 people living in the city. The population density was 1401.1 people per km ². There were 8800 housing units at an average of 511.7 per km². The Columbine population was 94.82% White , 0.41% Black or African American , 0.40% Native American , 1.16% Asian , 0.12% Pacific Islander , 1.57% said other races belong to and 1.46% named two or more races. 5.58% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of Columbines were distributed to 8656 households out of which 38.1% had children under the age of 18. 69.7% of households are married, 7.3% had a female head of the household without a husband and 19.9% were not families. 15.8% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 3.9% of all households aged 65 years or older.
