Coming Soon is a French anti-folk band from Annecy . The group is heavily influenced by American music and the anti-folk scene. They sing their lyrics in English.

history

The group was founded in 2005 in Annecy, which they call themselves mystically transfigured Kidderminster , by a trio consisting of Leo Bear Creek, Ben Lupus and Billy Jet Pilot. The founding members are between 14 and 24 years old at the time. In 2006 some members of the band together with Kimya Dawson under the name Antsy Pants - the name Coming Soon had not yet been found - on pieces for the soundtrack to the American-Canadian comedy film Juno , including Vampire and Tree Hugger . During this time there was also a collaboration with the French indie pop band Herman Düne . Through this collaboration, they can consolidate their affiliation to the French anti-folk scene and establish contacts with important people. Through the relationship with André Herman Düne, who has lived in Berlin since 2003, they get the opportunity to play in a small club in Kreuzberg . Since they cannot give the club owner a band name, they are announced as band name is coming soon . They then commit themselves to the name Coming Soon .

A few successful concerts in Paris and the creative videos from the Take Away Show series by La Blogothèque - the video for Just a Child , for example, was recorded in a public self-cleaning pissoir in Paris - they can build a certain awareness. In 2007 Coming Soon were signed by the Kitchen Music label , a small Parisian indie label . Her debut EP The Escort will also appear there in 2007. Her debut album New Grids will be released on February 4, 2008, and the single Big Boy will be released from the album . The album is followed by videos directed by Fred Mortagne and some television appearances and interviews. The band now also gives concerts at renowned festivals such as the Inrocks à l'Olympia in Paris or the Paléo Festival Nyon (2008)

For the 2009 album Miss Météores by Olivia Ruiz , the band wrote two titles: Don't Call Me Madam - a duet with Ruiz - and Eight o'clock . For the album La République des Meteors from Indochine , the band writes the text of the title We are the young , which appears on CD 2 of the album. A duet of the song Private Tortures together with Étienne Daho appears on his live album Daho Pleyel Paris .

On June 2, 2009 Canal + will broadcast the TV documentary Adorama by Pascal-Alex Vincent , which shows portraits of young people from all over France on the subject of adolescence . The TV show will be presented and musically accompanied by Leo Bear Creek and Alex Banjo. The group Wu is introducing a title from their upcoming second album. A short time later the band announced the release of their second album Ghost Train Tragedy in Le Grand Journal for September 2009. The EP B-Sides & Rarities Vol. 1 , released in March 2011, contains six tracks not released on the album. Based on the same principle, B-Sides & Rarities Vol. 2 was published in April 2011.
