Olivia Ruiz (* 1. January 1980 in Carcassonne as a Olivia Blanc ) is a French singer and Actress .
Life
Ruiz grew up in Marseillette and studied in Montpellier . She started singing as a child. She became known to a wide audience in 2001 as a participant in the French talent show Star Academy . She made it to the women's semi-finals. After that she was able to assert herself successfully in the music scene. Her idiosyncratic mix of styles mixed with cheeky lyrics is referred to by critics as the " Nouvelle Chanson Française". From 2002 she worked temporarily with the rock band Weepers Circus . With her second album La Femme Chocolat she reached number 1 in the French charts. She produced this together with her partner from 2005 to 2010, the French author and musician Mathias Malzieu.
In 2011 she played her first leading role in the French comedy Fathers and Other Disasters .
