Weepers Circus (English, about: "Circus of the Weeping") is a French rock band based in Strasbourg . They sing their pieces in French .

history

The band was founded in Strasbourg in 1988 by Franck George and Eric Kaija Guerrier, who were joined by Franck George's brother Alexandre George and Denis Leonhardt that same year. The four musicians were around 16 years old at the time and attended the same school in Strasbourg. In 1992 and 1994 they played the music for the scenic pieces Le Requiem and Les Fables. Her debut single was not released until 1995, and in 1997 her first album Le fou et la balance was released. In 1999 the album L'epouvantail was released, which mainly contains folk-rock pieces with a high proportion of violins and cello. In 2000 Weepers Circus accompanied the chanson singer Caroline Loeb for the first time . Since then, the band has recorded numerous pieces with other musicians. The third album, L'ombre et la demoiselle, contains a piece that was written together with the group Bratsch . In March 2001, drummer Alexandre "Goulec" Bertrand became a member of the band, and the pieces became rockier. In 2002 there was a collaboration with the singer Olivia Ruiz , from 2003 further albums were released. The 2009 album À la récré was written for children; the accompanying book contains drawings by Tomi Ungerer . In 2011 Weepers Circus incorporated elements of electro-pop into their music for the first time. In 2013, founding member Eric Kaija Guerrier left the band.
