Commandos: Strike Force ( engl. "Task Force") is a first-person shooter - computer game . It is the fourth part of the Commandos game series and the successor to Commandos 3: Destination Berlin . It was released in March 2006 for PlayStation 2 , Xbox and Windows . Unlike its predecessors, Commandos: Strike Force is not a real-time tactics game.

action

Despite major visual changes, the basic plot of Commandos: Strike Force has hardly changed. During the Second World War , the aim of the Allied Special Forces was to set targeted pinpricks behind enemy lines in the fight against the German Reich . The single player campaign is split into three parts and takes the player to countries such as Norway , France or Russia .

Gameplay

The commando squad has meanwhile been reduced to three specialists. The green beret , the sniper and the spy are available to the player. The bird 's perspective has given way to the first-person perspective . The player controls one of the three units per mission, although in some missions two are available and can be changed during the game.

By switching to the first-person perspective, Commandos: Strike Force focuses less on the strategic and more on the skill aspect. The game has a multiplayer mode.

Commandos: Strike Force , with its change in gameplay, was received more critically by most game magazines than its predecessor.

In 2006, Petra Schmitz wrote in the April issue of GameStar that Strike Force had an identity crisis "The game wants to cross the depths of real-time tactical games with the ease of a shooter and fails." Tactical skills are not required enough and you can learn just with the spy and the right gun "shoot through every level [..]." Therefore, no "Commandos quality seal " can be imprinted . Nevertheless, the game is fun: "The missions have a context and the characters are personable."

Her colleague Fabian Siegismund rated the game similarly. He "would have preferred if Pyro had combined the already unspectacular skills of the three in one hero." He also criticized that "the graphics were too weak, the level design too unimaginative."
