Communauté de communes du Pays des Côtes et de la Ruppe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Communauté de communes du Pays des Côtes et de la Ruppe is a former communal union ( Communauté de communes ) of eight municipalities in the north-west of the Vosges department in Lorraine .

The municipal association had 1,019 inhabitants (2008) on 67.83 km², which corresponded to a population density of 15 inhabitants / km². The seat of the association, which is one of the smallest in Lorraine, was the municipality of Clérey-la-Côte .

The name of the association, founded on December 24, 1997, indicates its geographical location in the Côtes de Meuse , a 200-kilometer-long ridge that accompanies the Meuse on the right, and the Ruisseau de Ruppes , a small tributary of the Meuse, which largely drains the area. The calcareous soils in the east of the area allow precipitation to seep away quickly. Here the Aroffe runs underground.

The municipal association was formed to bundle the material resources of the municipalities and to coordinate economic development.

With effect from January 1, 2013, the community association merged with the Communauté de communes du Pays de Jeanne and the Communauté de communes du Pays de Neufchâteau and thus formed the new Communauté de communes du Bassin de Neufchâteau .
