The Concordia Insurance Company Mutual is a German insurance company , based in Hannover . The Concordia insurance group offers property / casualty insurance and personal insurance for private individuals, the self-employed and companies. The company should not be confused with Concordia Schweizerische Kranken- und Unfallversicherung, which operates in Switzerland .
history
The Concordia mutual insurance company , in the organizational form of a mutual insurance association , was founded in 1864 by Heinrich Adolf Mohrhoff under the name Hoyaische Provinzial-Mobiliar-Feuerversicherungs-Gesellschaft Concordia as a fire insurer for agriculture .
In 1975, when Concordia Lebensversicherungs-AG was founded , life insurance was also offered. Further subsidiaries were founded: Concordia Holding AG , oeco capital Lebensversicherung AG , Concordia Krankenversicherungs-AG and Concordia Rechtsschutz-Versicherungs-AG as well as Cordial Versicherungs-Dienstleistungen GmbH , Concordia Service GmbH and Cordial Grundstücks-GmbH .
In 2000 Concordia entered the Polish market; The subsidiaries Concordia Wielkopolska TUW , a mutual insurer, and the life insurer Concordia Capital SA were founded for this purpose . The commitment in Poland was ended in 2018.
In September 2014, the merger of Oeco Capital Leben with Concordia Leben was announced, which was approved by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) in August . In 2016, the assets of Concordia Rechtsschutz-Versicherungs-AG were transferred to Concordia mutual insurance company with the approval of BaFin.
Structure and key figures
The Concordia Holding AG and the Cordial land-GmbH is 100% owned by the parent company insurance Concordia Mutual held. The holding company in turn holds 100% of the shares in the subsidiaries Concordia Lebensversicherungs-AG , Concordia Krankenversicherungs-AG , Concordia Rechtsschutz-Leistungs-GmbH , oeco capital Lebensversicherung AG , Cordial Versicherungs-Dienstleistungen GmbH and Concordia Service GmbH .
The gross premium income booked by the insurance association as the parent company amounted to EUR 536.8 million in 2017. Together with the domestic subsidiaries for legal protection business, life insurance and health insurance business as well as the Polish subsidiaries, the insurance group's premium income rose to EUR 885.2 million in 2017.
