Conference européenne des Ministres responsables de l'Aménagement du Territoire
The Conference européenne des Ministres responsables de l'Aménagement du Territoire , or CEMAT for short, is a European conference of ministers for spatial planning that was first convened in 1970 .
This happened at the initiative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe , which in the 1960s considered European spatial planning to be one of the most important tasks of the future.
At its conferences, CEMAT u. a. following topics:
- Objectives and measures of spatial planning in the member countries
- Regional development policies in Europe
- Regional approaches to a European planning strategy for region types
- Technical approaches to a European planning strategy
- Spatial planning and urbanization problems
The results of the conferences are of a recommendation for the Council of Europe.
Exemplary results and work
- European Spatial Planning Charter ( 1983 )
- For the first time, this provided orientation points for a common spatial planning.
- European regional planning strategy ( 1988 )
- A summary of all recommendations made up to then.
- Guidelines for Sustainable Spatial Development on the European Continent ( 2000 )
- These guidelines consist of a ten-point program with content-related statements on the orientation and strategies of future spatial planning. It also includes a call for better coordination among the member countries.
