Conflict is an anarcho-punk band founded in 1981 in the London borough of Greenwich , which has become known for their pacifist attitude and their fight for anarchy and animal rights .

history

The band was formed in 1981. The original line-up consisted of Colin Jerwood ( vocals ), Graham Ball ( guitar ), John Clifford ( bass ) and Kenny Barnes ( drums ). Paul Friday took care of the visualization of the tapes at that time .

Since the band moved in the anarchist anti-war and animal rights movement and had an anti-capitalist sentiment, they released their first EP The House That Man Built in 1982 on Crass Records, the label of the anarcho-punk band Crass . Conflict paid tribute to Crass with the song CRASS . In 1983 they released their debut album It's Time to See Who's Who on Corpus Christi Records. Steve Ignorant from Crass played the EP To a Nation of Animal Lovers, which was released in the same year, and after it was broken up he took part as an additional singer for Conflict.

In order to publish their albums and to support other artists, Conflict founded their own label Mortarhate Records, on which bands such as Hagar the Womb, Icons of Filth, Lost Cherrees, The Apostles and Stalag 17 released their albums.

In 1984 the band made a European tour and in 1985 they toured the United States for the first time . After 1994 it became quieter for the band, as they had to struggle with state repression and some of their concerts resulted in riots. In 2001 the band released another EP called Now You've Put Your Foot in It and in 2003 an album followed. Since then the band has been on the road more intensively.
