The Archdiocese of Taiyuan (Taiyuan) ( latin Archidioecesis Taeiuenensis ) is in the People's Republic of China Located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church .

Under Pope Leo XIII. was on June 17, 1890 the Apostolic Vicariate Shanxi divided into the Apostolic Vicariate South Shanxi and North Shanxi. Under Pope Pius XI. In 1924 the Apostolic Vicariate of North Shanxi was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate of Taiyüanfu. By Pope Pius XII. took place on April 11, 1946 the elevation from the Vicariate to the Archdiocese of Taiyüan.

The suffragans Diocese of Fenyang [Fenyang], Diocese of Hungtung [Hongdong], Diocese of Lu An [Changzhi], Diocese of Shuozhou [Shuoxian], Diocese of Tatung [Datong] and Diocese of Yuci [Yütze] are assigned to the Archdiocese.

Bishops

Due to the political situation, the archbishopric could no longer be occupied until today, following the resignation of Dominic Luke Capozi in 1983, the only archbishop recognized by the Roman Catholic Church.
