The Diocese of Datong ( Latin : Dioecesis Tatomensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Datong in the People's Republic of China .

history

Pope Pius XI founded with the bull Concreditum Nobis the Apostolic Prefecture Tatungfu on March 14, 1922 from territory ceded by the Apostolic Vicariate North Shansi . On June 17, 1932, she was raised to the rank of Apostolic Vicariate with the Bull Ut prosperitati spirituali .

With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised to the diocese on April 11, 1946. Since July 8, 1990, Datong Bishop Guo Yingong , a member of the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association , is not recognized by the Holy See .
