Conrad Giger

Conrad Giger (baptized September 14, 1559 in Basel ; buried August 26, 1635 there ) was a Swiss carpenter .

Life

Conrad Giger was the son of the Pfullendorf carpenter Mathis Giger the Elder . Like his two younger brothers Leonhard and Mathis , he learned to be a carpenter. In 1586 he acquired the guild rights of the Basel spinning weather guild . In 1598, together with Hans Walter , Franz Pergo and his brother Mathis Giger, he created the “head stalls” for the Basel Minster . After 1600 he worked as an advocate or as a bailiff at the city court. From 1613 to 1636 he was a member of the board of his guild and from 1614 to 1635 also worked as its clerk.
