Franz Pergo

Franz Pergo , born as François Parregod (* around 1570 ; † October 15, 1629 in Basel ) was a Swiss cabinet maker and carver of Burgundian origin.

Life

Pergo came from Grandfontaine near Besançon in France . In 1593 he bought the citizenship of the city of Basel as well as the guild rights of the spinning weather guild .

In 1595 he created an in situ preserved door court in Basel's town hall , which was recognized as a masterpiece by the carpentry trade. In 1598 he took part in the production of the “head stalls” for the Basel cathedral . One of the works attributed to Pergo is a cabinet (1619), which later belonged to the lawyer and art collector Remigius Faesch and is now in the Basel Historical Museum .

Pergo died of the plague on October 15, 1629 .
