Conrad Sohm
The Conrad Sohm (also called Sohm for short ) is an Austrian night club in Vorarlberg (between Dornbirn city center and the Gütle ) and in this function the venue for performances by local and international music groups and DJs .
history
The Conrad Sohm was built in 1992 and 1993 when parts of the factory building of the former Josef Andre Winder factory that were built between 1870 and 1874 were converted into a night club in the “ Boden ” plot . Performing and visual artists from the region are responsible for the exterior and interior design .
The bar is named after a deceased businessman who ran a toy store of the same name in Dornbirn, which existed until the 1980s. As Conrad Sohm was well known to the people of Dornbirn, Hannes Rothmeyer decided to give his newly founded club this name. He bought the old company sign that was still attached to the shop in Eisengasse and had it installed over the entrance area of the club so that it was clearly visible.
program
The Conrad Sohm sees itself as a multicultural meeting place for young and old. The main focus is on DJ-ing and concerts, but exhibitions, readings and cabaret performances are often held on a small scale . There the cabaret duo Stermann & Grissemann tests their current program before the tour starts. In addition to local bands and newcomers, international bands such as Faithless , Tito & Tarantula and Queens of the Stone Age also perform .
