Conrad Wasmer
Conrad (von) Wasmer (born March 3, 1627 in Itzehoe ; † October 12, 1705 in Glückstadt ) was a German lawyer.
Live and act
Conrad Wasmer was a son of Hinrich Wasmer (born August 14, 1588 in Meldorf ; September 18, 1643 ibid) and his wife Beata, née Schmidling. His father was a governor of Süderdithmarschen. The maternal grandfather named Conrad Schmidling was a mayor of Itzehoe and married to Anna, nee Ellerhorst.
In 1642 Wasmer enrolled for law studies at the University of Rostock . He probably graduated there. Then he went on a grand tour . There is evidence that he enrolled in Leiden in 1649, Orléans in 1652 and Heidelberg in 1655. Due to the time intervals and order of the documented visits, it can be assumed that he also visited Italy and the university cities of London and Paris, which were otherwise common at the time. During the trip he was made a licentiate of both rights. Based on this educational path and his titles, it can be assumed that he came from a wealthy family who was striving for social advancement.
Wasmer placed himself in the service of the Danish king and visited the Reichstag in Regensburg as legation secretary in 1657 . In 1658 he was returned to Heidelberg University as a respondent . He later worked as a councilor at the royal government and justice chancellery in Glückstadt. As such, he repeatedly attended district meetings of the Lower Saxony District . As a negotiator, he took part in the negotiations of Duke Joachim Ernst von Plöns on the distribution of the inheritance of the County of Oldenburg and important agreements of his time between King Friedrich III. and the Duke Christian Albrecht von Gottorf . These included the Glückstadt recess and the marriage contract between Duke Christian Albrecht and Friederike Amalie of Denmark and the Altona contract .
In 1680 Wasmer was appointed Vice Chancellor in Glückstadt. Since the Chancellor was often absent, Wasmer de facto headed the authority. From 1684 he also worked as the district chancellor at the district court. In 1685 he was appointed budget councilor. The Danish king raised him to the hereditary nobility on September 21, 1695.
family
Wasmer's first marriage in 1658 was Margareta Steenmann, who died on August 10, 1667. She was a daughter of Captain Hinrich Steenmann. This marriage resulted in two children who died early.
In his second marriage, Wasmer married Margareta Bruhn on September 3, 1668 (* June 28, 1651; † February 13, 1676). Her father Jacob Bruhn (1624-1670) was a governor of Süderdithmarschen and married to Abel, née Dohrn from Wilster . The son Johann Jacob von Wasmer came from this marriage .
Wasmer married Christiane Rehder on November 22, 1667, who was buried on November 16, 1697. Her father JUD named Johann Rehder came from Wilster. Wasmer's third marriage resulted in two sons and a daughter who died early.
