Constantin Naumann

Constantin August Naumann (born March 9, 1800 in Blasewitz , † November 21, 1852 in Freiberg ) was a German mathematician .

Life

Constantin Naumann was the youngest son of the composer, conductor and bandmaster Johann Gottlieb Naumann . His brothers were the geoscientist Carl Friedrich Naumann and the physician Moritz Naumann . He passed his matriculation examination at the Dresden Kreuzschule and from 1817 studied mathematics, physics, chemistry and mineralogy at the University of Leipzig . In 1819 he moved to the Bergakademie Freiberg . From March to August 1821 he studied at the University of Berlin and from October 1821 at the University of Göttingen . From 1823 to 1826 Naumann worked as a private teacher in Freiberg. In October 1827 he became second professor of mathematics at the Bergakademie. Until his death in 1852 he lectured on pure and advanced mathematics. August Junge succeeded him in 1855.
