Conasprella puncticulata (original combination Conus puncticulatus , synonym : Perplexiconus puncticulatus ) is the species name a snail from the family of cone snails (genus Conasprella ), which in the western Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea is common and from Vielborstern malnourished.

features

Conasprella puncticulata carries a small snail shell , which in adult snails reaches 1.4 to 3.2 cm in length. The Protoconch has one and a half whorls. The tapered thread has a slightly concave outline and flat passages. The shell has a broad, round angled shoulder and a convex, mostly smooth body circumference, which, however, is slightly contracted towards the base and covered with spirally running flat ribs or grooves. The surface of the housing is whitish with numerous transverse lines of narrow, small maroon dots and often with light purple to maroon cloud patterns running lengthways in three bands. The inside of the case mouth is white or purple in color.

The body, foot and sipho of the snail are white. Green algae sometimes grow on the body of living snails.

distribution and habitat

Conasprella puncticulata is common in the Caribbean Sea and off the Lesser Antilles . It lives in the intertidal zone and at sea depths of up to 15 m on sandy surfaces.

nutrition

Conasprella puncticulata eats small polychaeta (polychaeta) living in the sand , which are stung with the radula teeth and killed with the help of the poison from the poison gland .
