The Cooper Bay is a bay at the southeast end of South Georgia . It is located 2.1 km southwest of Cape Vahsel and 1.5 km northwest of Cooper Island .
The name of the bay is derived from that of the island of the same name, whose namesake is Robert Palliser Cooper († 1805), a participant in the second South Seas voyage (1772-1775) of the British navigator and explorer James Cook .
