Coredust is a Finnish metal and rock band from Helsinki that was formed in 2007.

history

The band was formed in early 2007 when drummer Jyty Tirola joined guitarist Sakari "Sakke" Hulkkonen, bassist Olli Broman and singer Esa Salminen. In January they recorded a first demo with three songs. This was followed by appearances in Finland. Meanwhile, new songs were being worked on. Towards the end of the year, the EP Past Lives was recorded with Kari Huikuri at Scandal Recording Studios and released in early 2008. The song Scarred for Life was also played several times on the Finnish radio station Radio Rock . In autumn 2011 the drummer Tirola left the group and Antti Maasilta was added as keyboard player. In November, the band returned to Scandal Recording Studios with Huikuri to record their debut album. Jaska Raatikainen was involved as a drummer . The album was released in 2012 on Inverse Records under the name Decent Death .

style

Luxi Lahtinen from voicesfromthedarkside.de wrote in his review of Decent Death that genres like Thrash , Death and Groove Metal as well as Progressive Rock are mixed together. However, by using this variety of genres, the music seems unfocused. According to Jens from metal.de , the album starts atmospherically before it ends in Death Metal and becomes quieter and more complex towards the end, by incorporating fusion and progressive rock elements in the style of the Romanian band White Walls. Both clear vocals and growling are used in the songs , and female vocals are also used. The song 03:00 AM is atmospheric and could also have come from Ulver , starting with clear vocals and weaving in groovy Death Metal passages. The song also reminded him of Ghost Brigade .
