Corneille Antoine Jean Abraham Oudemans , also Cornelis Antoon Jan Abraham Oudemans (born December 7, 1825 in Amsterdam , † August 29, 1906 in Arnhem ) was a Dutch botanist , mycologist and doctor . Its official botanical author abbreviation is “ Oudem. "

education and profession

Oudemans was born the son of the poet, teacher and philologist Anthonie Oudemans Senior ; his younger brother was the astronomer Jean Abraham Chrétien Oudemans . One of his nephews was the zoologist Anthonie Cornelis Oudemans , whose current author name " Oudemans " and whose former author's abbreviation " Oudms. "Reads.

He studied medicine at the University of Leiden and became professor of medicine and botany at what was then the Athenaeum in Amsterdam, and in 1877 professor at the university and director of the Botanical Garden. In 1896 he retired. In 1857 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

Honors

After him, the plant genus Oudemansia Miq. from the Mallow family (Malvaceae) and the mushroom genus Oudemansiella Speg. named.
