Cornelia Holsten (born April 2, 1970 in Bremen ) is a German lawyer and has been the director of the Bremen State Media Authority since July 1, 2009 .

biography

Holsten studied law at the University of Bremen . After her legal clerkship, she worked in a law firm specializing in IT, copyright and media law and became a judge in 2003, most recently she was deputy chairwoman of the 7th Civil Chamber at the Bremen Regional Court . She played a key role in the introduction of court mediation at the Bremen Regional Court.

On April 16, 2009, the State Broadcasting Committee elected her director of the Bremen State Media Authority. This makes her the first woman in the Federal Republic to head one of the fourteen state media authorities as director . On October 30, 2013, she was re-elected as director for a second term with an overwhelming majority of the members of the media council (formerly the state broadcasting committee). She is a member of the directors' conference of the Working Group of the State Media Authorities (DLM) and the Commission for Licensing and Supervision (ZAK) as well as chair of the Commission for Youth Media Protection (KJM). She is also a board member of the Institute for European Media Law (EMR).

Since January 1, 2011, Cornelia Holsten has also been the legal representative of all state media authorities and, since January 1, 2013, has also been the deputy chairwoman of the Directors' Conference (DLM). She has been chairwoman of the conference since January 1, 2018.
