Cornelia Juergens

Cornelia Jürgens (born July 18, 1955 in Dortmund ) is a Hamburg politician of the GAL-Hamburg and former member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Life and politics

The trained teacher was already politically active in school and student representatives. She was also active in the “Hamburg tenants movement”, citizens' initiatives and in the women's list “Cheeky Women”.

She became a member of the Greens in 1982 and was a member of the district assembly in Hamburg-Mitte .

From November 1986 to February 1989 and from 1991 to 1993 she was a member of the Hamburg Parliament . There she was on the building committee, committee for the constitution, rules of procedure and electoral examination as well as in the urban development committee.

To state election in 1993, it was not set up because they are with their bellicose had isolated position in the GAL. In retrospect, Jürgens commented: “The Greens did not put me up again because of my commitment to human rights in Bosnia. This moral question, which is crucial for me, led to a break with the party.
