Cornelis Christiaan (Cees or Kees) Berg (born July 2, 1934 in Bandung , Indonesia , † August 31, 2012 in Rotterdam ) was a Dutch botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " CCBerg ".

Live and act

Berg was born in Bandung , Indonesia . He studied horticulture until he moved to Utrecht University in 1957 and studied biology until 1964. He also worked as a teacher. In 1985 he was appointed professor of botany at the University of Bergen . He received his doctorate for his monograph Taxonomic studies in Moraceae, which appeared in Flora Neotropica . He further specialized in Moraceae . He made contributions to the Flora of Gabon (1984), Flore du Cameroun (1985) and the Flora of Tropical East Africa (1989). then he turned to the Neotropis and wrote several monographs for the Flora Neotropica , as well as contributions to the Flora of the Guianas and the Flora de Venezuela , as well as the Flora of Ecuador . Now he has mainly specialized in the genera Cecropia and Ficus .
