Cornelis Gerardus' t Hooft (born June 30, 1866 in Dordrecht , † January 7, 1936 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch painter , draftsman , lithographer and art historian .

Life

Cornelis Gerardus 't Hooft was the son of Cornelis Gerardus' t Hooft (born April 30, 1829) and his wife Jacoba Agnieta Lotsij (born May 20, 1844). He was apprenticed to George Breitner and Jan Veth . He painted genre pictures, landscapes, still lifes, seascapes and cityscapes. 't Hooft was a member of the artists' association Arti et Amicitiae and curator of the Museum Fodor, founded in 1863 on Amsterdam's Keizersgracht .

On February 4, 1909, he married Pauline Ernestine Spakler, daughter of the Amsterdam sugar manufacturer Willem Spakler (1839-1932). The textile artist Ernee 't Hooft (1911-2004) was a daughter of the couple.
