Cornelis de Waard
Cornelis de Waard (born August 19, 1879 in Bergen op Zoom ; † May 6, 1963 in Vlissingen ) was a Dutch teacher and mathematics historian.
De Waard studied mathematics and physics in Amsterdam and was then a teacher in The Hague , Winschoten and from 1909 until his retirement in 1944 in Vlissingen .
He edited 8 volumes of Marin Mersenne's correspondence . He was particularly concerned with mathematicians of the first half of the 17th century such as René Descartes , Pierre de Fermat , Gilles Personne de Roberval , Blaise Pascal , Girard Desargues . He published documents on Pascal and the diary of Isaac Beeckman (from 1939).
