The Munich rapid cycle route is a planned 13.2 kilometer rapid cycle connection between Munich , Unterschleißheim and Garching .

The pilot project is the first specifically planned high-speed cycle connection for Munich and the surrounding area with high requirements for ride comfort and priority over crossing traffic. It should be four meters wide and two lanes. Speeds of up to 30 km / h should also be possible in the curves. The rapid cycle route should initially lead along Ludwigstrasse , Leopoldstrasse and Ingolstädter Landstrasse . The exact route from here to Unterschleißheim or Garching is still being discussed. The start of construction was scheduled for 2019 and could not be kept. In August 2020, the Bavarian Ministry of Transport announced that construction would start in the city of Munich from 2021 and in the Munich district from 2022. Template: future / in 2 years. The cost is estimated at 34 million euros. According to the forecast of the planning association for the outer economic area of ​​Munich , more than 8000 cyclists will use the route every day, 4800 from and to Garching, 3600 from and to Unterschleißheim.
