Cornelis of Glymes of Bergen

Cornelis von Glymes von Bergen (* 1458 ; † 1509 ), knight in the Order of the Golden Fleece , was a Dutch nobleman and military man from the line of the Lords of Bergen op Zoom of the House of Glymes .

Life

Cornelis took part on the Burgundian side in the Battle of Nancy (1477) and the Battle of Guinegate (1479). He was in command of Grave , a neuralgic place of the Habsburgs in battle with the dukes of Geldern . In 1490 Cornelis was made Admiral of the Netherlands , a position he lost again the following year. In the time of his Admiral shaft he was in the Flemish revolt against the Roman-German King I. Maximilian involved. Furthermore, Cornelis was owned by the High Glory Polsbroek and the Free Glory Grevenbroek .

A daughter, Geertrui (d) von Bergen (1510–1541) came from an illegitimate relationship.
