The Glymes family (partly also Glimes ) is a family of the Dutch - Belgian nobility. The progenitor Johann Cordeken, who in 1312 received the eponymous Glymes in Brabant (today as Glimes a district of Incourt ), was an illegitimate son of Duke Johann II of Brabant and thus a member of the Reginare family (see also: Stammliste der Reginare ) .

The House of Glymes soon split into four lines:

  1. The oldest line is that of the Marquis de Bergen op Zoom , which died out in 1567
  2. The middle line is that of the Comtes de Grimberghe and Princes de Berghes, which went out in 1744.
  3. The youngest line is that of the Lords of Limelette and La Falize , who received the title of Comte de Glymes in the last generation and died out in 1769.
  4. The current line is called de Glymes de Hollebecque .

The German Gundling family is traced back to the Glymes family.
