Glymes (noble family)
The Glymes family (partly also Glimes ) is a family of the Dutch - Belgian nobility. The progenitor Johann Cordeken, who in 1312 received the eponymous Glymes in Brabant (today as Glimes a district of Incourt ), was an illegitimate son of Duke Johann II of Brabant and thus a member of the Reginare family (see also: Stammliste der Reginare ) .
The House of Glymes soon split into four lines:
- The oldest line is that of the Marquis de Bergen op Zoom , which died out in 1567
- The middle line is that of the Comtes de Grimberghe and Princes de Berghes, which went out in 1744.
- The youngest line is that of the Lords of Limelette and La Falize , who received the title of Comte de Glymes in the last generation and died out in 1769.
- The current line is called de Glymes de Hollebecque .
The German Gundling family is traced back to the Glymes family.
