Anton van Glymes van Bergen, 1st Margrave of Bergen

Anton von Glymes von Bergen, 1st Margrave of Bergen (* May 13, 1500 , † June 27, 1541 ) was a high Dutch nobleman , descending from the House of Glymes .

Life

Anton von Glymes von Bergen was the son of John III. by Glymes van Bergen and the Adriana de Brimeu.

In 1532 the Heer van Walhain became a Dutch Comte de Walhain ( Count of Walhain ). In 1533 van Glymes van Bergen was founded by Emperor Charles V to the 1st Marquis of Bergen-op-Zoom increases. He was also Baron von Grimbergen , General Captain and sovereign Bailli ( Vogt ) of the County of Namur , Knight in the Order of the Golden Fleece , Imperial Councilor and Chamberlain . Anton von Glymes von Bergen also acted as envoy from Maria of Austria . In 1540 he received Emperor Charles V in his residence " Markiezenhof " in Bergen op Zoom . He also owned the Croy Castle

Anton von Glymes von Bergen marries Jacqueline von Croy, a daughter of Heinrich von Croÿ-Aerschot ( House of Croy ), Count of Porcéan . There were four children from this marriage:

  • Anna of Glymes of Bergen (* 1525)
  • Johan IV of Glymes of Bergen (* 1528)
  • Robert of Glymes of Bergen (* 1530)
  • Mencia of Glymes of Bergen (* 1535)
