from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cornelius Klemm (born July 16, 1628 in Marienberg , † April 2, 1682 in Sangerhausen ) was a Saxon-Weißenfels mountain official and mayor of the city of Sangerhausen. He was mountain bailiff in Sangerhausen and Bottendorf.

Life

He is the progenitor of a later family of scholars and was born in the mountain town of Marienberg as the son of butcher Valentin Klemm. Like several Marienbergers, he left the Ore Mountains and settled in Thuringia, where he worked in the mining administration. The Duke August von Sachsen-Weißenfels, who was also the administrator of the Duchy of Magdeburg, assigned him the function of mountain bailiff in the Saxon-Weißenfels mountain town of Sangerhausen at the foot of the southern Harz Mountains, which he carried out to the satisfaction of his employer until his death. After his death, his widow Barbara Klemm completed the accounts and duly handed them over to his successor in office.

At the same time, Cornelius Klemm was mayor of the city of Sangerhausen, on the outskirts of which Cornelius Klemm had bought the fulling mill building.

Cornelius Klemm had a special friendship with his official brother, the Bergvogt in Eisleben, Thomas Senf, with whom he exchanged professional experiences and who visited him, for example, when he was on the way to the mines in Ilmenau .

Cornelius' brother Ehrenfried Klemm acquired the feudal estates Weidenbach and Langendorf and was raised to hereditary nobility in 1662. He received the title of nobility from Wiedenbach .
