The Cornice Channel (English for Wechten Canal ) is a narrow strait off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . The channel separates the group of Argentine Islands of the Wilhelm Archipelago the Galíndez Island of Skua Iceland .
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937), led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill , carried out an initial survey of this sea route between 1935 and 1936. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1954 after a striking cornice above the flanking cliffs on Galíndez Island.
