GrindHouse developed the first chapter of the game using its own game engine, GrisGris Engine. A few months after the first chapter was published, the developers announced that the game would be ported to a Unity -based game engine. Due to the many technical problems with porting, the first chapter was reissued in 2017 under the name Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient , which was created under the new engine KENIX Engine Neues. The publication of the first chapter was delayed due to the fact that in 2014 only part of the development team was involved in the new edition of Dead Patient while the other development part was busy with the development of Corpse Party: Blood Drive .

The new edition of the first chapter contains additional scenarios , new game features and new characters.

The original version of the first chapter was published on May 29, 2013 for the PC . Since the game ran with significant problems, it was republished in 2017 with the help of a specially developed engine with additional content.

In May 2018 it was announced that the new version of the first chapter would be published in Europe in autumn . Although the game was announced for this period, it has not yet appeared in the West (as of 2019). Only a patch that partially translates the game into English has been released. Chapter 1

The high school student Ayame Itō wakes up without any memories in an operating room and is fixed on an operating table . With the greatest strength she manages to loosen her fixation. After she manages to repair the destroyed electronic door lock and to open the door, she realizes that she is on the second floor of an apparently abandoned hospital . In search of a way out she finds various medical records of other patients .

After she finds an apparent person in a hallway on the second floor, she follows him to the door of the X-ray room. As she approaches this door, she hears a person screaming inside. She continues to the reception where a mysterious woman opens the door for her. Itō, who enters the room and tries to speak to the woman, has to find that she does not notice her and the door to the hallway is locked. Looking for more clues, she enters the next room and finds that supernatural things are happening. When she returns to the reception it looks like the woman from earlier hanged . A monster attacks Ayame from the shadows. With great effort, she manages to activate the light switch and drive away the beast. Ayame can finally take the key to open the room from the corpse of the woman.

On the way to the exit area, Ayame notices that someone has written in blood to leave the hospital as soon as possible, as the "maddening disease" will soon be here. However, the exit is locked and Ayame begins to despair. She sees that the windows of the exit door have been partially splintered by someone else with the help of a suitcase carrier. She remembers that she came across another person in search of a way out and tries to find them. On the way back to the interior of the hospital, Ayame must find that the electricity has given up the ghost and everything is darkened. She remembers a girl she does not know . Trying to remember more details makes her dizzy. She notices that a person is walking towards her with a flashlight. Your attempts to talk to her fail and the stranger, who looks like a SWAT member, starts beating Ayame. She flees from the person and finds a key in a machine that is for the stairwell on the second floor and pulls it out with a 100 yen coin. She opens the door with the key and realizes that it is raining like buckets outside and that the stairs are partially in a dilapidated condition so that she cannot use them.

When Ayame enters the hospital again, she is attacked by an unknown woman who has gone mad and is pushed to the ground. Before anything happens another person appears and puts the woman to flight. Together they go to the MRI room. She introduces herself as Satomi Ritsuko and, like Ayame, has no memories of how she got to the hospital. However, she remembers being in a hospital because she had a bad cough. There she saw a mother first throwing her child and then herself from the third floor and dying. She also remembers moving closer to the corpses when the supposedly dead girl wakes up and is struck down by someone she does not know. She suggests barricading yourself in a safe room and staying there until help comes. So the two of them go to the nurses' room and are followed by a ghost on the way there . They also see a zombie attacking another girl. Ayame can strike down the attacker with a crutch and save the girl and find protection in the nurses' room . Ayame recognizes her classmate Chiyomi Homura in the rescued girl. You will find medical documents that describe a mysterious illness in which the affected person behaves more aggressively than average and you decide to track down this information.

She receives a message from her fiancé Masami, but shortly afterwards someone drills a hole in the door and lets gas flow in. Ayame and Ritsuko, who apparently have been betrayed by their fiancé, are able to escape through the ventilation shaft with the last of their strengths . You flee into the X-ray room and can unlock the door thanks to a number code. Ayame and Ritsuko decide to go to the MRI room and save Chiyomi. Once there, another student runs towards them in panic. Since they hear noises from the operating room, they enter the room and are attacked by a gigantic monster. Two other students who were hiding in a closet attack the monster. While Ritsuko tries to open the locked door, Ayame succeeds in rendering the monster incapacitated. Together they fix the monster on the operating table. They find out that the monster's heart was removed and should therefore be dead.

Riuji, one of the students suspects Shibai, who ran past Ayame in a panic, of having locked the door of the room in which Riuji and another student with the zombie from outside. Together they make their way to the exit, but they are attacked in the foyer. Ritsuko and Ayame can escape outside, but are caught there by Masami, who has captured Shibai and Chiyomi. After insulting Ritsuko, he reveals that he had removed Ayame's heart and ventilates her upper body to reveal a hole in her chest.

Gameplay

Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient is the first game in the series that uses 3D character models, while at the same time it represents a return to the RPG - Adventure style after previous releases resembled a visual novel . In contrast to earlier games, found objects must be equipped in order to be able to use them actively. Since the hospital, the setting, is even more complex than the Heavenly Host Elementary School, a game card was built in for orientation. Certain objects can be moved by the player. For the first time, it is also possible for the character being played to run when a key combination is pressed.

The game has several enemies trying to kill the player. From ghosts and zombies to a SWAT team that kills every living person to keep the supernatural happenings in check. The player must either flee from the enemies or sneak past . It is also possible to hide from your enemies or lure them away with the help of objects.

In addition, several, sometimes tricky puzzles have to be solved in the game. The player must use the items found in the game and collect files from deceased patients. Since the game has an independent storyline with new characters, even players without prior knowledge of the series can play the game.

Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient has several endings in the first chapter. A bad ending is activated when Ayame decides to leave Ritsuko alone in the nurses' room and instead goes in search of her friend.
