The Corte d'appello di Milano is an Italian court of appeal ( Corte d'appello ) located in the Palace of Justice in Milan .

Judicial district

In addition to the Court of Appeal of Milan there are in the region of Lombardy in Brescia yet another court of this kind. The Court of Appeal in Milan is in the field of general jurisdiction responsible for the western and northern parts of the region. A total of nine regional courts ( tribunali ) are subordinate to him in his judicial district . These are located in Busto Arsizio , Como , Lecco , Lodi , Milan, Monza , Pavia , Sondrio and Varese . The courts of justice stand under the regional courts . Only the Court of Cassation in Rome is superordinate to the Court of Appeal .

At the Court of Appeal in Milan there is a court of appeal ( corte d'assise d'appello ), a general prosecutor's office ( procura generale ) headed by a general procurator , and a youth court ( tribunale per i minorenni ) with an associated public prosecutor's office. However, these are independent organs.

Courthouse

The Court of Appeal is based in the Palace of Justice on Via Freguglia in Milan. The building dates from the time of Italian fascism .
