Corynne Charby

Corynne Charby (Corinne Charbit; born July 12, 1960 in Paris ) is a former French actress and singer .

life and career

In the late 1970s, Charby was a top model and featured on the covers of magazines like Elle and fashion shows around the world.

She had herself photographed as a nude model for the men's magazine Lui in 1983 (cover picture and leaflet).

Then she made her first attempt as an actress. Her first and best-known film was La chèvre in 1981 - German title Ein Clumsy Seldom Comes Alone - with Pierre Richard and Gérard Depardieu , in which she plays a supporting role and can be seen briefly at the beginning and at the end. The film is a popular classic in France. In 1984 she made the film Un été d'enfer with Thierry Lhermitte, who was still relatively unknown at the time , in which she played the role of the light girl. Her acting career ended after this film without her playing a really important role.

In the same year (1984) Corinne Charbit took on the phonetically identical - but more striking - stage name Corynne Charby.

Their first single and a small success was À cause de toi .

It had a big hit in 1986 with the title Boule de flipper , written by Christophe , which is still often played in France today. This success was surpassed the following year with Pile ou face , a top 5 hit in France. The album Toi , released in the same year, flopped, only the single Pas vu pas pris was another small success. Pile ou face was re-recorded in 2002 for the musical film 8 Women by Emmanuelle Béart .

In 1987 Charby married the director of Warner, with whom she has a son. With that she ended her artistic career and devoted herself only to her family. After their divorce, she remarried. She has two daughters with her second husband. She has lived in Los Angeles since the late 1990s .
