Coryphantha delaetiana is a species of plant in the genus Coryphantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet delaetiana honors the Belgian coffee importer and succulent specialist Frans de Laet from Kontich.

description

Coryphantha delaetiana grows individually or often forms groups with age. The spherical to short cylindrical, light green shoots reach the same height with a diameter of 6 to 8 centimeters. The warts , up to 10 millimeters long, are rhomboid. The one to four reddish to black central spines are 2 to 2.9 inches long. The lowest of them is strong and slightly curved, but it can also be missing. The rest are in ascending order. The seven to 15 gray or whitish radial spines are 1 to 1.5 centimeters long.

The light yellow flowers are up to 4 inches long.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Coryphantha delaetiana is common on alluvial soil in the Mexican states of Chihuahua , Coahuila and Durango .

The first description as Mammillaria delaetiana by Leopold Quehl was published in 1908. Alwin Berger placed the species in the genus Coryphantha in 1929 .

Synonyms are Mammillaria gladiispina Boed. (1925) and Coryphantha gladiispina (Boed.) A. Berger (1929).

Coryphantha delaetiana is in the endangered Red List species the IUCN as " Least Concern (LC) ", d. H. not endangered, classified.
