The Cotton Belt

The Cotton Belt is a belt region in the southern United States , where cotton was mainly grown in the 19th and 20th centuries .

The Cotton Belt is wholly or partly in the following states:

North Carolina , South Carolina , Georgia , Alabama , Mississippi , Tennessee , Arkansas , Louisiana , Texas , Oklahoma , Missouri , Kentucky , Florida , and Virginia .

In parts of this region, cotton is still grown today, but no longer as the main crop.
