Countess of Walsingham

Countess of Walsingham , in the County of Norfolk , was a British title of nobility in the Peerage of Great Britain , which was named after the place Walsingham .

The title was created on April 7, 1722 by King George I for his illegitimate daughter Petronella Melusina von der Schulenburg . Their mother was his mistress Ehrengard Melusine von der Schulenburg , whom he had raised to Duchess of Munster in 1716 and Duchess of Kendal in 1719 . Along with the earliest dignity , she was given the subordinate title of Baroness Aldborough , of Aldborough in the County of Suffolk . The titles were awarded for life and expired when the Countess died on September 16, 1778.
