The Cow Palace (also known as the California State Livestock Pavilion ) is a multi-purpose hall in the US city of Daly City , on the border with San Francisco , in the state of California .
General
The Cow Palace was completed in April 1941, after thinking about building an arena in the Bay Area as part of the 1915 World Exhibition in San Francisco . In addition to hosting ice hockey and basketball games, it is possible to organize rodeos thanks to the spacious cattle stables .
From 1962 to 1964 and 1966 to 1971, the San Francisco Warriors from the NBA played their home games at Cow Palace. From 1991 bis 1993 the newly established NHL - Franchise of the San Jose Sharks . The Grand National Rodeo has been held at the Cow Palace every year since the arena was built, with the exception of the years 1942 to 1945, when the event fell victim to World War II .
In 1956 and 1964, the Republican nomination conventions for the 1956 and 1964 presidential elections were held here. In 1967 the NBA All-Star Game was played in Daly City.
In 1978, Neil Young's concert film Rust Never Sleeps was recorded.
