CozyCot is a website for women from East Asia and Southeast Asia (especially Singapore ) to build social networks . CozyCot was founded in 2001 and has been publishing a newspaper since 2010.

history

CozyCot started in November 2001 as an Internet portal in Singapore , where members could publish reports or exchange opinions and shopping and fashion tips. As the online community grew, founder Nicole Yee began organizing live events for members to bring them together. Some perfume makers noticed the ever-growing community and offered to support it by making the venues available. Other commercial projects followed ( workshops , product marketing, online shopping, etc.), which (together with the website's appearance among the top 100,000 in the Alexa rating) led to the decision to convert it into a company. In 2002 Nicole Yee founded "CozyCot Pte Ltd" as the leading company of the portal. Later, in 2008, she invested $ 100,000 in the website. The company's revenues exceeded $ 1 million in 2009, growing 115%.

The community continued to expand as the readership of Singapore's women's magazines turned more and more to online content. As a result, the portal has grown into Singapore's largest online community for women in the beauty, fashion and lifestyle sectors, with over 500,000 visitors each month. The community also expanded geographically: to include the rest of East Asia as well as Asian women from Australia and New Zealand , making CozyCot a regional website that "marked Singapore on the world map". Since 2006 CozyCot has been ranked the best women site on the Hitwise Singapore Online Performance Awards list every year .

In October 2009 Mindshare announced the launch of an online reality show on CozyCot . The show, called House Husbands, focuses on a group of men trying to prove that they are as skilled in the boardroom as they are in the familiar baby room. The participants fight for prizes in a wide variety of educational tasks.

With the opening of a nearly 100 square meter shop in Orchard Central ( Ninki-Ô ) and the publication of the CozyCot newspaper, the company is also present offline. In May 2010 CozyCot entrusted Nielsen with the tasks of web analysis and audience monitoring (the website is audited by Nielsen since 2005) (the website has been monitored by Nielsen since 2005).

Community

CozyCot users , also known as "Cotters", interact within the forum and when exchanging information about beauty products at the live events organized by the staff. There is a point system in place where a member can get rewards for their support (based on activity on the site).

Forum

The initial forum in the early years was primarily intended to exchange shopping and fashion tips and opinions. Then it spread to the areas of “home and living”, “motherhood”, “career”, “finance”, “technology” and “weddings”. These topics are known as “channels” (28 as of April 29, 2009). The forum was recognized for its wide range of topics, as some of them (such as spas and fragrances ) are noticeably lacking in other forums. The main language is English , but there are (partially) entries in Chinese as well . A CozyCot debate on the subject of " plastic surgery " with over 1,000 comments and 8 million views was covered in Hankook Ilbo , considering the special Chinese views on the subject and their cosmetics tourism to South Korea .

Reports

CozyCot has a product library of over 35,000 products available to members. An iPhone scanner software enables users to access product reports from the CozyCot website by capturing the barcodes with the camera of the customer's iPhone.

Events

CozyCot organizes events that allow members to interact with each other in workshops, discussion groups, street tests, etc. In partnership with Citibank , CozyCot organized the CozyCot Holy Grail Private Party , held on September 6th and 7th, 2008 to celebrate its 7th anniversary.

Related publications

In April 2010, a newspaper called CozyCot was launched as a 25-page free monthly publication with a circulation of 200,000.

Honors

CozyCot has won first prize for Singapore's Best Women Page on the Hitwise Singapore Online Performance Awards list for 5 consecutive years since 2006 .
