Craft of Scandinavia
A manufacturer of technical sportswear operates under the Swedish brand Craft Sportswear (formerly CRAFT of Scandinavia) . The brand was founded in 1977 in Borås , a traditional textile town in the south of Sweden . Borås is still the company's headquarters today. The origin of Craft lies in the development of functional underwear, which works as a two-surface knitted fabric based on the principle of the capillary effect. CRAFT now produces sportswear for all three layers of clothing in the layer system. CRAFT operates worldwide and focuses primarily on cross-country skiing, triathlon, cycling and athletics.
history
In 1973, the Swede Anders Bengtsson began researching materials and knitted structures that help the human body to regulate its temperature balance during physical stress (work or sporting activities) - that is, to cool or keep it warm as required. His extensive practical tests also included weighing the garments before and after sporting activity - and thus also determining the weight of the moisture.
Bengtsson finally developed a two-knitted with a Kapillargefälle from polyester - fibers . In this knit construction, fibers of different thicknesses are used for the inside and outside of the knit - slightly thicker on the inside, thinner on the outside. The resulting capillaries drop sweat away from the skin in a controlled manner and outwards.
The Craft brand was officially founded in 1977. A little later, in addition to functional underwear, the company also began to manufacture clothing for the second layer (mostly made of fleece material) and outerwear. Today, the company's product portfolio includes a wide range of functional underwear qualities (for different levels of physical activity and different ambient temperatures), especially clothing for endurance athletes (cyclists, runners, track and field athletes, cross-country skiers, triathletes) and team sports.
