Craig Federighi

Craig Federighi (born May 27, 1969 in Alameda , California ) is an American software developer. He is the senior vice president of software development for Apple . Federighi has a Master of Science degree in computer science and a Bachelor in electrical engineering and computer science of the University of California at Berkeley .

Career

Federighi initially worked at Steve Jobs ' company NeXT Computer , where he led the development of the Enterprise Objects Framework . After joining NeXT, he worked briefly at Apple before becoming Chief Technology Officer at Ariba .

In 2009 Federighi returned to Apple and took over the leadership of OS X development. In March 2011, he succeeded Bertrand Serlet as Vice President for Mac Software Engineering , before being promoted to Senior Vice President in late August 2012. On October 29, 2012, following the announcement of Scott Forstall's departure from Apple, Federighi's range of responsibilities was expanded to include leading iOS software development in addition to Mac software development.

He was the driving force behind the release of Apple's mobile operating system , iOS 7 , in 2013 . His presentation of OS X 10.9 Mavericks and iOS 7 at WWDC 2013, Apple's annual developer conference, received mostly positive reviews and generated extensive press coverage.
