The Crasna ( Hungarian Kraszna ) is a left tributary of the Tisza in north-west Romania and north-east Hungary .

The Crasna rises in the Munții Meseș , a mountain range in the northeast of the Apuseni Mountains , south of the municipality of Crasna in the Sălaj district . It is dammed up to the Vârșolț reservoir near its source . It flows in a predominantly north-northwest direction. It flows through the town of Șimleu Silvaniei , crosses the border to Hungary and flows into the Tisza at Vásárosnamény . The course of the Crasna river is 193 km long, 147 km of which are in Romania. Its catchment area covers 3,142 km². The mean discharge is only 3 m³ / s.
