Cravinkel was a German folk rock band from the 1970s around the guitarist Kralle Krawinkel .
history
Cravinkel was founded in 1969 in Wilhelmshaven and played folk rock there. To be closer to the record companies, Cravinkel moved to Hamburg in 1970 , where most of the major record companies in Germany were based in the 1970s. The move was worth it, because the band received an unusually well-paid record deal with Philips , a sub-label of Phonogram . To create the most creative environment possible, Cravinkel then moved to Volkmarst (near Bremervörde ).
In 1970, Cravinkel recorded her first self-titled LP in London and then went on a European tour with Frumpy and Spooky Tooth . In September 1970 they opened the “ Love and Peace Festival ” on Fehmarn , the self-proclaimed European answer to the “ Woodstock Festival ”. However, Cravinkel's appearance there was canceled prematurely due to technical problems.
After a line-up change, the band released another album in 1971, which now sounded significantly more progressive than the debut. Overall, the second album only contained three very long tracks.
At the beginning of 1972 the house in Volkmarst, in which Cravinkel lived as a flat-share, burned down completely and destroyed all her belongings. The fire resulted in the dissolution of the band.
Bandleader Kralle Krawinkel reappeared as guitarist in the NDW band Trio in the early 1980s .
George B. Miller (main) and Klaus George Meier played in the 1970s and 1980s with "Lude Lafayette's Wolfsmond", Meier, Miller, Kaiser and a few more.
