The Cresta bivouac is a refuge of the Swiss Alpine Club section Saas in the Pennine Alps in the canton of Valais in Switzerland .

Location and operation

The bivouac is at the foot of the Latelhorn, in the north-east around two hundred meters above the Antronapass at 3,025  m above sea level. M. It is operated by the Saas section of the Swiss Alpine Club and is not manned.

history

The bivouac was built in 1997 in a sheltered hollow. The old construction of the Mischabeljoch bivouac could be used, which had to give way to a new building. The Cresta bivouac is in good condition and equipped with the necessary. It has been listed as the 152nd official SAC hut in the SAC hut directory since summer 2018.

The bivouac is the ideal starting point for crossing the ridge of the Cresta di Saas , the long border ridge Italy / Switzerland between the Valle Antrona and the Saas Valley .
