history

The church was first mentioned in documents in 1397. The existing tower, the choir and the west portal can still be assigned from the Gothic construction stage. The interior was redesigned in the late Baroque style in 1791/92 and the church was consecrated by a Brixen bishop on September 10, 1792.

location

The parish church is located within a walled cemetery in the middle of the rural village settlement.

architecture

inside view

The church is uniformly built as a Gothic building with a raised nave with a steep pitched roof . It has arched windows as well as transverse oval and round windows with diagonally cut reveals. The slender tower with painted town stones is attached to the north side of the choir and there are coupled, round-arched sound windows , over which it wears a shingled pointed gable helmet . The wall surfaces are plastered white and are mainly embossed in an effective contrast to the architectural painting that divides the entire exterior. On the entrance facade in the west are the curved gable and the late Gothic portal. To the west of the choir is the sacristy .

The three-bay nave has an entrance bay, a centralized, domed main room, and above it a lancet barrel vault . The entrance yoke is divided by a wooden organ gallery with stucco cladding. The two-bay retracted choir has a polygonal end and is raised by three steps, above it it also has a lancet barrel vault.

Furnishing

The interior of the church is equipped with three altars made of stucco marble with altar paintings , sculptures on the high altar , ceiling frescoes , sculptures and rich stucco work .

Franz Xaver Kirchebner created the ceiling frescoes in 1791. The late Gothic fresco was consecrated to St. Martin in 1972 and is located next to the high altar.

The bell was cast by Wolfgang Bartlmä Grassmayr in Habichen in 1750 and is one of the oldest baroque bells in Tyrol.
